The One Where Ross Finds Out

 

Opening Credits

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's apartment. Everyone is sitting at the couches, Chandler enters.]

Chandler: Okay, what is it about me? Do I not look fun enough? Is there something. . . repellent. . . about me?

Rachel: So, how was the party?

Scene 1

[Scene: The Hallway, Chandler comes out wearing spandex, jogging in place. Monica is there.]
[장면: 복도에서 챈들러가 스판덱스를 입고 제자리에서 조깅을 하고 나온다. 모니카가 있다.]
Chandler: Okay, let's do it. (Monica looks at him funny) What?
Chandler: 좋아, 해보자. (모니카는 그를 우스꽝스럽게 바라본다) 뭐?
Monica: Nothing, just never seen you in little stretchy pants before.
모니카: 아뇨, 신축성 있는 작은 바지를 입은 걸 본 적이 없어요.
Chandler: And we're changing. (jogs back in his apartment)

[Cut to the city street. Monica and Chandler are jogging. Chandler is lagging behind so he hops in a cab and takes off, leaving Monica behind]

[Scene: Central Perk, Chandler and Joey are sitting on the couch. Rachel is working.]

Chandler: (slowly lifts coffee cup to his mouth) Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. (slowly sets the cup back down) Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. (Joey intercepts the cup and puts it down for him). She's insane, the woman is insane. It's before work, it's after work, it's during work. She's got me doing butt clenches at my desk. And now, they won't bring me my mail anymore.
Chandler: (천천히 커피잔을 입으로 가져가며) 아, 아야, 아야, 아야, 아야, 아야. (천천히 컵을 다시 내려놓는다) 아야, 아야, 아야, 아야, 아야. (조이가 컵을 가로채서 내려놓는다.) 그녀는 미쳤어, 여자는 미쳤어. 퇴근 전, 퇴근 후, 퇴근 중입니다. 그녀는 내가 책상에서 엉덩이를 꽉 쥐게 만들었다. 그리고 이제 그들은 더 이상 내 메일을 가져오지 않을 것입니다.

Rachel: Hey Pheebs, how'd it go with Scott last night?

Chandler: So you really Okay about all this?

(she leaves carrying her tray then comes back in) Okay, we're not supposed to take these when we leave.
레이첼: 음. (시계를 보며) 와, 저것 좀 봐! 가야 해요, 데이트해야 해요. 남자와. 음, 알았어, 너희들은 정말, 어, 정말 좋은 밤을 보내고 둘은, 어, 정말 좋은 고양이를 키운다. 
(그녀는 쟁반을 들고 나갔다가 다시 들어온다) 좋아, 우리가 떠날 때 이걸 가져가면 안 돼.

Scene 3

[Scene: A Restaurant, Rachel is on her date with Michael.]
[장면: 레스토랑, Rachel이 Michael과 데이트 중입니다.]
Michael: I don't know if Monica told you but this is the first date I've gone on since my divorce so, if I seem a little nervous, I am.
마이클: 모니카가 말했는지는 모르겠지만 이혼 후 첫 데이트라서 조금 긴장되는 것 같으면 긴장한 것 같아요.
Rachel: (distracted) How long do cats live?
레이첼: (산만해지며) 고양이는 얼마나 오래 삽니까?
Michael: (confused) I'm sorry?
마이클: (당황하며) 죄송해요?
Rachel: Cats, how long do they live figuring you don't... y'know, throw 'em under a bus or something?
레이첼: 고양이들아, 얼마나 오래 살아서 너가... 알아, 버스 밑으로 던지거나 그런거 하지마?
Michael: Um, maybe 15, 16 years.
Michael: 음, 아마도 15, 16년 정도.
Rachel: That's just great. (she picks up her champagne and starts drinking)
레이첼: 정말 대단하네요. (그녀는 샴페인을 들고 마시기 시작한다)
Michael: Um, cheers.  마이클: 음, 건배.
Rachel: Oh, right, clink. (downs her glass)
레이첼: 아, 맞다, 땡그랑. (그녀의 잔을 내려놓는다)
Michael: Monica told you I was cuter that this, didn't she?
마이클: 모니카가 내가 이게 더 귀엽다고 했지, 그렇지?
Rachel: Oh, no, Michael, it's not you. I'm sorry, it's just, it's this thing. It's probably not as bad as it sounds but this friend of mine is, is getting a cat with his girlfriend.
레이첼: 오, 안돼, 마이클, 당신이 아니에요. 미안해, 그냥, 이게 다야. 들리는 것만큼 나쁘지는 않겠지만 제 친구는 여자친구와 고양이를 키우고 있습니다.
Michael: Oh, that does sound. . .Ahh.

Rachel: I mean he just started going out with her.

Rachel: Okay, Okay. So, you ever get a pet with a girlfriend?

Scene 4

[Scene: Central Perk, Phoebe and Joey are sitting on the couch.]

Phoebe: So, I figured it out.

Phoebe: Why Scott doesn't want to sleep with me. It's 'cause I'm not sexy enough.

[Scene: A Restaurant, Rachel pours the last of the champagne bottle in her glass.]

Rachel: (obviously drunk) I mean, it's a cat, y'know, it's a cat. Why can't they get one of those bugs, y'know, one of those fruit flies, those things that live for like a day or something? (belligerently) What're they called, what're they called, what're they called?
레이첼: (당연히 취한 듯) 내 말은, 고양이야, 있잖아, 고양이야 . 왜 그들은 그 벌레들 중 하나를 얻을 수 없습니까? 알다시피 초파리 중 하나는 하루 정도 사는 것입니까? (호전적으로) 뭐라고 부르지, 뭐라고 부르지, 뭐라고 부르지?
Michael: Fruit flies?
마이클: 초파리?
Rachel: Yes! Thank you. 
레이첼: 그래! 감사합니다.
(The waiter comes to the table.) (웨이터가 테이블로 온다.)
Waiter: So, would you like any dessert?
웨이터: 그럼, 디저트를 드시겠습니까?
Michael: No! No dessert, just a check, please.
마이클: 아니! 디저트는 없고 수표만 주세요.
Rachel: Oh, you're not having fun, are you?
레이첼: 오, 재미없잖아, 그렇지?
Michael: No, no, I am, but only because for the last hour and a half I've been playing the movie Diner in my head.
마이클: 아뇨, 아뇨, 하지만 지난 한 시간 반 동안 머릿속에서 영화 다이너를 틀었기 때문이에요.
Rachel: Oh, Look at me, Look at me. Oh, I'm on a date with a really great guy, all I can think about is Ross and his cat and his... Julie. I just want to get over him. gosh, why can't I do that?
레이첼: 오, 날 봐, 날 봐. 오, 나 정말 좋은 남자랑 데이트 중이야, 로스와 그의 고양이 그리고 그의... 줄리 생각밖에 안 나. 나는 그를 극복하고 싶다. 맙소사, 내가 왜 그렇게 할 수 없지?
Michael: Oy. Look, I've been through a divorce, trust me you're gonna be fine. You just can't see it now because you haven't had any closure.

Guy: I'm talkin'!    Guy: 내가 얘기 해요!
Rachel: I can see that. I—just one phone call, I'll be very quick, I'll even pay for it myself. (man is still reluctant) Okay, you're bein' a little weird about your phone.
레이첼: 알겠어. 저는—전화 한 통이면 아주 신속하게 처리하고 직접 비용을 지불하겠습니다. (남자는 여전히 주저함) 좋아, 당신은 당신의 전화에 대해 조금 이상해.
Guy: All right, fine. (on the phone) I'll call you back. (hands the phone to her)
가이: 알았어, 알았어. (전화로) 다시 전화할게요. (그녀에게 전화기를 건넨다)
Rachel: Thank you. Okay. (dials) (to Michael) Machine. Just waiting for the beep.
레이첼: 고마워. 좋아요. (다이얼) (Michael에게) 기계. 신호음만 기다리고 있습니다.
Michael: Good.
Rachel: (on phone) Ross, hi, it's Rachel. I'm just calling to say that um, everything's fine and I'm really happy for you and your cat who, by the way, I think you should name Michael. And, you know, ya see there I'm thinking of names so obviously, I am over you. I am over you and that, my friend, is what they call closure. (hangs up and tosses phone in the ice bucket)
레이첼: (전화로) 로스, 안녕, 레이첼이야. 난 그저 음, 모든 것이 괜찮고 마이클이라는 이름을 지어야 할 당신과 당신의 고양이가 있어서 정말 기쁘다는 말을 하려고 전화한 것뿐입니다. 그리고 아시다시피 저는 이름을 생각하고 있습니다. 너무 당연하게도 저는 당신을 잊었습니다. 나는 당신을 끝내고 그것이 그들이 종결이라고 부르는 것입니다. (전화를 끊고 얼음통에 전화기를 던진다)

Ross: (entering) Hey Rach.

Rachel: Ahhhh.
Ross: Oh. And how was the date?

Rachel: Umm, I think there was a restaurant... I know there was wine. . .

 (Rachel looks at Ross as though she remembers something, but can't place what it is.)

Ross: Wow, well uh, uh, actually, Julie's downstairs getting a cab, I just need the cat toy, did Monica say. . . What? Why, why are you looking at me like that?

Rachel: I don't know, I, I feel like I had a dream about you last night but I, I don't remember.

Ross: Okay. Oh, oh, oh. (runs over and picks up the cat toy)

Rachel: Did we speak on the phone last night? Did you call me?

Ross: No, I stayed at Julie's last night.

Rachel: Huh.
Ross: Oh, actually I haven't even been home yet. Do you mind if I check my messages?

Rachel: Oh yeah, go ahead. (Rachel walks in her room. Ross picks up the phone and dials his machine to check his messages.)

Ross: Rach, I got a message from you. (pauses) Who's Michael?

 (Rachel comes out of her room, suddenly she remembers leaving the message.)

(jumps the couch and lands on Ross's back, finally getting the phone from him. Ross has a confused expression on his face.)

Ross: You're over me?

Rachel: Ohhhhhhhh God. (climbs off his back)

Ross: When, when were you... under me?  Rach. Rachel do you, I mean, were you, uh. . . What?

Rachel: Ohh, Okay, Okay, Okay, well, basically, lately, I've uh, I've uh, sort of had feelings for you.

Ross: You've had feelings for me?

Rachel: Are you over me? (A moment of silence.)

Julie: (over intercom) Hi honey, I've got a cab waiting.
줄리: (인터콤을 통해) 안녕 여보, 택시가 기다리고 있어요.
Ross:  I'll be right down.
Ross:  바로 내려갈게요.
Rachel: Wait, so, you're going?
레이첼: 잠깐, 그래서, 갈거야?
Ross: Well, Okay, I uh, I have to. I can't deal with this right now. I mean, I've uh, y'know, I've got a cab, I've got a girlfriend, I'm... I'm gonna go get a cat.
Ross: 음, 좋아, 난 어, 그래야만 해. 지금은 이 문제를 처리할 수 없습니다. 내 말은, 난 어, 알다시피, 난 택시를 탔고, 여자친구도 있고, 난... 난 고양이를 사러 갈거야.
Rachel: Okay, Okay.
Ross: Cat. (leaves)

[Scene: Chandler and Joey's, Joey is watching a rabbi play an electric guitar on TV.]

Phoebe: (entering) Hey Joey.
Joey: Hey Pheebs.
Phoebe: How come you're watching a rabbi play electric guitar?

Joey: I can't find the remote. (Phoebe turns off the TV) Thank you.

Rachel: All right, I got it Ross.
레이첼: 좋아, 내가 잡았어 로스.
Ross: You had no right to tell me you ever had feelings for me.

Rachel: (hurt) What?  레이첼: (다치며) 뭐?
Ross: I was doing great with Julie before I found out about you.

Ross: The point is I... I don't need this right now, Okay. It, it's too late, I'm with somebody else, I'm happy. This ship has sailed.

Rachel: Yeah, what're you saying, you just sort of put away feelings or whatever the hell it was you felt for me?

Ross: Good.
Rachel: Good.
(Rachel gets up and opens the door, yelling after him.)
(레이첼이 일어나서 문을 열고 소리를 질렀다.)
Rachel: And ya know what, now I've got closure.
레이첼: 그리고 그거 알아, 이제 내가 끝냈어.
(Rachel slams the door and locks it. She sits down, visibly upset. She puts her head in her hands and begins to cry. Ross comes back and is standing outside the window. When Rachel regroups and gets back up to finish closing, she sees him. She smiles. She goes to open the door and can't get the lock undone.)
(레이첼이 문을 쾅 닫고 잠근다. 그녀는 눈에 띄게 화가 난 채 자리에 앉았다. 그녀는 머리를 손으로 감싸고 울기 시작했다. 로스가 돌아와서 창 밖에 서 있다. 그를 본다. 그녀는 미소를 지었다. 그녀는 문을 열러 갔고 자물쇠를 풀 수 없었다.)
Ross: Try the bottom one.
Ross: 아래 것을 시도해 보세요.
(She opens the door and they kiss.)
